Barry Sack was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1948 and received his Bachelors degree in commerce from the University
of Witwatersrand in 1969.
After emigrating to the United Kingdom in 1973 he worked in the commercial sector including directorships at Anglo African
Leasing, and Rothschilds Investment Trust, and he founded the Summit Group PLC in 1980, where he worked until retiring from
commercial life in 1990 to devote his time to being a full time artist.
As an artist, he both paints and works as an architectural enamellist, trained in the latter technique by the highly-acclaimed
enamel artist Vera Ronnen. Typical pieces of his work in enamel include decorative wall and door panels.
In both his painting and enamelling, he uses the same technique of building up many transparent layers, creating the effect
of coloured lenses through which the viewer can see into the depths of the works.
He has received both private and public commissions including one for a major enamel work Quarried Elements for The Dresdner
Kleinwort Benson Bank Headquarter Building located in London, Swan Lane.
He also has exhibited extensively at London galleries with shows at
The Millennium Gallery (2004),
Florence Fine Art (2005), and The Plateaux Gallery (2006).
In Cape Town, South Africa, he has exhibited at the Everard Read Gallery , Joao Ferreira Gallery, and currently at Gallery
88 in Paarl, Dorpstraat Gallery in Stellenbosch, and Kalk Bay Modern, all of which continue to show his work in 2015.
